Being one of the few ranches in the United states that has Yak hunts available, we offer a unique opportunity to hunt them. Pricing varies on the type of animal you choose. Yak meat is exceptional, we customize the processing to your needs from simply quartering it out to packaged at our local locker. Not only will you get an animal that will fill your freezer, you will have a trophy head and a beautiful rug. Taxidermy fees are an additional cost. All hunts are guided and include meals and lodging.

Yak is considered dangerous game. Your safety is a top priority for Bowcreek Ranch Outfitters. Our male trophy bulls are split from the main heard and moved into one of our large hunting areas. Besides the hunting area offering different conditions and unique challenges these bulls become more difficult to hunt and more dangerous. Shot placement is important and the ability to reload is vial. Our guide will be there with a large caliber rifle in the event it is needed.

Yak hunting in Kanas does not require a any special hunting permits other than an over the counter general hunting license.

When I first heard about hunting Yak, I was intrigued. I personally spend a lot of time cooking and I’ve heard that Yak meat is very lean and has a great taste. Since this was my first Yak hunt, I was relying on my guide, Stephanie to help me put a good stalk on a massive bull. I was told to be prepared for the bull to charge if threatened. Using the natural contours of the landscape we were able to break a big bull off the group and get in position for a good shot. After the hunt, I was treated with smoked yak steaks that were more than delicious! I would recommend this hunt for anyone looking for something unique and full of adrenaline. The hunt was very exciting and the meat was incredible!

I started with Bow Creek a few years ago on a Upland hunt, but since then I've come back for whitetail and yak hunts. All I can say is WOW! This has to be the best kept secret in the midwest.
